Expansion Shield Anchors are utilized for light to medium duty anchoring into concrete, brick or block materials.  They are inserted into a pre-drilled hole and sit flush with the base material.  They are available in both a Single style, which makes contact with the base material at a single point once the anchor is properly set, and also a Double style, which expands against the base material at 2 points, thereby providing a stronger hold.  Since the Double style makes contact with the base material all along its entire length, it is a popular anchor in base materials of suspect or questionable integrity, such as soft or sandy materials.
