Self-Drilling (Tek Type) Screws

Self-Drilling Screws (Tek Screws) provide the same features and attributes as Self-Tapping Screws, only with a self-drilling point instead of a self-piercing point.  They are some of the most important and widely utilized commercial fasteners in use today.  They are aptly named, as their drill point allows them to drill their own hole into the mating metal surface, thus eliminating the need for a pre-drilled pilot hole.  The deep, sharp threads cut their own internal threads into the mated material.

Common Applications and Styles of Self-Drilling Tek Screws

Their most common application is securing objects to sheet metal.  Head styles include pan, flat, bugle, trim, modified truss, hex washer, and wafer. They are available in a wide variety of diameters, lengths, materials, and finishes.
