Dog Point Socket Set Screws

Dog point set screws are a type of socket set screw that comes in two-point styles: full dog point and half dog point. Both are characterized by their protruding tip and are designed to lock inside a machined hole or slot, or flat against a shaft as a permanent setting. Half dog point set screws have a shorter tip compared to their full dog counterpart to work in applications with limited clearance. We offer standard half dog set screws as well as options with a nylon patch for thread locking.

Full Dog Point Set Screws vs Half Dog Point Set Screws

Both full dog point set screws and half dog point set screws have a protruding tip with a flat end. The only difference is that the tip is slightly longer on a full dog set screw than it is on a half dog set screw. The flat tip allows these set screws to effectively locate a pre-drilled hole or recess in the shaft, similar to a dowel pin. Full dog point set screws and half dog point set screws are intended for use in permanent or semi-permanent applications, but can be removed and reused in some cases.
