Hi-Collar Lock Washers at Empire Bolt & Screw

A common occurrence in the utilization of washers is the loosening of the washer from its assembly.  This is caused by a variety of forces that may be present within an application, but the most frequently seen failures are due to vibrational forces.  Hi-Collar Lock Washers are a popular way in which to counter these forces and prevent assembly failures in high torque applications.  The helical shape of the hardened split ring exerts a spring force between the fastener and the mating surface, which in turn creates friction and resistance to rotation.  Hi-Collar Lock Washers, with their reduced OD and increased thickness over regular Split Lock Washers, are recommended for use with Socket Head Cap Screws or wherever there may be diameter clearance limitations.
