Keystock Material for Torque Transmission Applications

Keystock is used to prevent movement and transmit torque between a shaft and component.  In the fastener industry, it is utilized in a variety of mechanical devices, from large construction equipment to small motors.  It is critical that Keystock be sized correctly and seats tightly within the mating keyway to prevent rotation.  It is also important that the Keystock material be the same strength and hardness as the key shaft to prevent failure and ultimate damage of the device assembly.  Keystock is available in a variety of materials, including carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and brass, and configurations include square, rectangular, hex, round, and step.
