Oval Head screws are considered countersunk, however unlike their Flat Head cousins that offer a completely flush seating, Oval Heads have a slightly rounded top that rises a bit above the countersunk mating surface.  This gives a finished, decorative appearance to this screw that is desirable in many applications.  The Slot Drive accepts standard blade screwdrivers, making it a universally accessible drive style.  When used properly with the recommended bit size, Slot Drives require far less downward pressure to drive the screws than that required by a Phillips recess.
